Our Areas of Expertise
-
When a parent is managing one or more chronic illnesses, it’s crucial to have a care plan that goes beyond basic GP visits. I help clients think through coordinating medical specialists, ensuring consistent medication management, and streamlining communication across providers. We can also vet and onboard home care professionals, so your parent receives high-quality, continuous care.
-
Supporting a parent with cognitive decline is both emotionally and logistically complex. I work with families to develop practical care plans tailored to the progression of the condition—this includes cognitive assessments, safety modifications at home, and bringing in specialists such as neurologists and dementia-trained carers. I also help families navigate tricky decisions around driving, financial oversight, and future housing transitions with compassion and clarity.
-
I help adult children ensure that their parents have a comprehensive healthcare plan in place. That includes making sure advance care directives are completed, identifying the right primary and specialist providers, and establishing a clear care protocol for emergencies. If needed, we can also coordinate a patient advocate or geriatric care manager to attend appointments and relay updates to you.
-
Long-term care planning is about being proactive, not reactive. I guide families through the financial, legal, and emotional dimensions of planning for care—whether at home, in assisted living, or in a private facility. Together, we’ll clarify your parents’ preferences and build a plan that balances their autonomy with the realities of ageing, so you’re not left making urgent decisions under pressure.
-
When living at home is no longer ideal—or safe—I support you in exploring and evaluating housing options, from modifying your parent’s home to researching retirement communities. I help you weigh costs, amenities, care levels, and waiting lists, and can coordinate safety assessments to make transitions smoother and less overwhelming for everyone involved.
-
While I don’t replace legal counsel, I help ensure your parents’ estate planning documents are organised, current, and aligned with their care needs. That includes making sure Powers of Attorney and healthcare proxies are in place, prompting updates to wills and trusts, and helping you spot potential gaps before they become problems. If needed, I’ll coordinate with your legal or financial team to make the process seamless.
-
Whether your parent is resistant to planning or your siblings have differing views, I help you prepare for the conversations that matter. Using strategies grounded in psychology and family dynamics, I equip you with language and tactics that reduce defensiveness and increase cooperation—so these talks don’t spiral into conflict or stall out entirely.
-
Managing caregiving as a team often leads to tension or miscommunication. I help families establish clear roles, responsibilities, and communication systems, especially when some siblings live at a distance or carry more of the load. From shared calendars to regular check-ins, we create a care structure that is fair, sustainable, and keeps everyone informed.
-
Few things are harder to talk about—but having a plan for end-of-life care is a lasting gift. I help facilitate conversations around wishes, assist with organising key documents (like DNRs and funeral preferences), and make sure nothing falls through the cracks—from hospice care to legacy letters—so you’re prepared, not scrambling, when the time comes.
-
Wherever your parents live, I can help identify vetted, local professionals—everything from elder law solicitors to home carers to concierge medical services. My referrals are tailored to your family’s needs and preferences, with an emphasis on high-quality, trustworthy support that aligns with your expectations.
